N’gaï-N’gaï – Sorrel Leaves – (Nyanto) 500g
Origin : Togo
This shrubby herbaceous plant can reach a height of 2 to 4 metres when mature, depending on its growing conditions. Its deciduous foliage consists of lanceolate green leaves, and its flowers are relatively large, up to 8 cm in diameter. Guinea sorrel leaves are used in Congo Kinshasa, Congo Brazzaville, and Gabon as a vegetable in purées or sauces. Peanut butter or aubergine purée can be added to temper the acidity of the sauce or purée, which perfectly complements grilled fish or poultry, enhancing their flavour.
